Beta 3 Overworld Guide
Overworld Guide
Welcome Rangers to Beta 3 Overworld! While much focus has been placed on Ascendant Arena mode, we stayed strong in ensuring the new Beta engages the Overworld just as much as Ascendant Mode PVP. Overworld is still gated behind Beta keys as it’s still in a Private Beta phase. We will let a select number of users into the Overworld early to test its features. It’s important to note that although you will be collecting Illuvials and crafting items, the beta is a means for us to gather more data, and everything will be wiped and reset for the Open Beta launch to ensure a fair play experience for everyone.
The Basics of Overworld
Dropping in: You’ve just started the Overworld, and you’re in Sanctum Mesa, your central hub in the Overworld. The first thing to do is familiarise yourself with the general controls. If you go to the menu, you can easily navigate the default key binds and change them if you like.
Obelisk: The Obelisk is where your ranger starts in all regions and Sanctum Mesa. You can teleport to the Obelisk anytime by opening your map, clicking, and holding on to the Obelisk Icon. This is your main teleportation device to other regions and back to Sanctum Mesa.
Main Hub: Upon opening your map, you’ll notice some different areas of interest. The central hub is where you craft at the ‘Forge’; your Fusing Illuvial station will also be here. Leaderboards to check out how you rank in points during your runs in the Regions, and the consoles underneath the hub can easily enter the Arena. You can quickly transport here from anywhere by clicking and holding on to the teleport beacon in the central area of the hub.
Forge: The forge is where you will craft all your in-game items. From Weapons to Augments and Shards, you will create all the necessary items to set yourself up for success in the Overworld. Look through the items you need to understand what you will look for in the Overworld.
Fusion: The fusion area is where you will upgrade your Illuvials. So once you have three stages 1 of any Illuvial and they have sufficient experience accumulated, you will take them to the fusion dashboard and fuse them to create a Stage 2 version of that Illuvial. Once you get 3 Stage 2 Illuvials, you can fuse those to make a Stage 3. So essentially, you need 9 Stage 1 Illuvials to make a single Stage 3. When fusing Illuvials, the stats are randomly rerolled to make the new Illuvial.
Leaderboard: In each region, you get a certain number of points based on multiple completed goals. You’ll get a point indicator and multiplier after doing activities such as harvesting and capturing Illuvials in encounters. Time is also a factor, so the quicker you are, the more points you get.
Inventory: Now that you have familiarised yourself a bit, you’re almost ready to head into a region. Depending on your goal, you’ll want to check your Ranger Inventory when entering a region. Here, you will find all the Illuvials, Weapons, Suits, Augments, Shards, Consumables and Upgrades for Drones and Suits. To catch Illuvials in a region, you need to have Cured Shards; you start with Shard Fragments, which are Tier 0 Shards. It is important to note that once in a region, you cannot change out Illuvials or items on the fly; you will need to leave the region. Whatever you enter into the region with is what you have for that run; if you need to add something, leave the region back to Sanctum Mesa and re-equip your inventory.
Shards: Shards are the way you capture Illuvials after defeating them in battle. Although you start with some Tier 0 shards, these fragments can only capture Tier 0 Illuvials. To get higher-tier shards, you must travel into a Stage 1-3 region and gather uncured shards to catch higher-tier Illuvials. A Tier 1 shard has a chance to capture an Illuvial of Tier 2 or higher, but the chances lower as the Tiers get higher, and there is still even the chance a Tier 1 Illuvial can escape a Tier 1 shard.
Ranger & Drone Upgrades: Depending on your goal in the region, you can apply various Ranger and drone upgrades before entering. Going through the forge to see the resources needed to craft these items will help you understand your regional goals.
Region Ready: Now you’re ready to jump into a region. Head to the Obelisk and choose from one of the available regions. You’ll then need to choose which Stage Run you wish to go on. Stage 0 runs are our ‘Free 2 Play’ runs in which you can get Tier 0 Illuvials and Shards. Stage 1-3 runs scale up in fuel cost (Crypton) and will enable you to catch higher tier Illuvials and gather higher tier resources. In private beta, players are given 5000 Crypton daily at 00:00 UTC to travel into regions, so use your Crypton wisely.
In Region: Now that you’re in a region, there are various activities you can pursue. You can immediately head out and look for wakes to start capturing Illuvials. Ensure you have a team assembled and the correct Tier of shards for your region. If you wish to gather resources, you can start harvesting plants, ores and shards in the deposits or plant life.
Nethersight & Heatmap: Nethersight and the heatmap can be two of your best friends in the region. Turn on your map and hit H to bring up the heatmap to determine where the most valuable caches are and where the red areas are. Hitting Q brings up your nether-sight, so once you are closer to the caches you are interested in, you can pinpoint more precisely where they are, as they will be highlighted in red as well. These two systems can also be upgraded through the Forge for more refined data sets.
Teleport Beacons: Ranger's Teleport Beacon in the Overworld – your strategic shortcut! Place these markers anywhere, then teleport back to them instantly, which is especially handy after a 'game over'. These beacons, crafted at the Zero-Point Forge, are a game-changer in reducing backtracking and enhancing decision-making. Remember, once placed, a beacon stays put, so plan your placements wisely!
Illuvial Lines: Our Set 1 Illuvials are inspired by endangered species, making each line unique. They are somewhat region-specific; for example, you may find more Nature Illuvials in the Abyssal Basin or more Air in Brightland Steppes, but they are not exclusive to those regions.
