Gauntlet Balance Patch Notes - Patch V1.3.2

This patch focuses on addressing balance and refining synergy mechanics to enhance gameplay depth. Empath and Psion dominance has been reduced based on win rate data, while Fighters receive a general performance boost. Additionally, higher-tier Rogues, specifically the Penguin, Thylacine, and Pterodactyls lines, have been given targeted enhancements to improve their underperformance.

We have simplified base synergy effects and descriptions from a synergy perspective to align with their role as foundational mechanics. The complexity removed from base synergies has been transferred to composites, which have seen their power level doubled and now have a much more noticeable and end-game-oriented impact. To support this, we’ve reworked several composites to give them more unique effects and stronger personalities, with plans for additional composite updates and reworks in the future.

The addition of the Ranger has made base synergy thresholds too easy to achieve, so these thresholds have been adjusted to promote better vertical composition scaling; further details are below. Furthermore, the new composite impact curve has been adjusted to tie better the difficulty of achieving composite thresholds, ensuring that harder-to-reach thresholds offer significantly greater power rewards. These adjustments aim to create a more balanced and engaging progression experience while making composites feel more rewarding and impactful.


Illuvials

Earth Volante

  • Old: Stunned and silenced the target for 0.75/1.5/2.5 seconds.

  • New: Stuns target and gains invulnerability for 0.5/1/1.5 seconds.

Atippo Line

  • Energy Cost: Increased from 120 to 140.

Earth Atippo

  • Stun Duration: Reduced from 1.25/1.5/1.75 to 0.75/1/1.25 seconds.

Air Atippo

  • Attack Speed Buff: Reduced from 15/25/35% to 10/20/30%.

  • Blind Effect: Reduced from 2/2.5/3 seconds to 1.5/2/2.5 seconds.

Water Atippo

  • Omega Energy Gain: Reduced from 10/15/20 to 8/12/16.

Mammoth

  • Energy Cost: Increased from 165 to 180.

Tiktaalik

  • Health: Reduced from 2000/3000/4500 to 1800/2600/3800.

Fennex Fox

  • Health: Reduced from 1000/1400/2000 to 800/1200/1800.

Pterodactyl

  • Omega Power Damage: Increased from 700/850/1000 to 900/1000/1150.

Thylacine

  • Omega Power Damage: Increased from 125/200/325 to 150/250/400.

  • Attack Damage: Increased from 115/170/270 to 125/180/280.

  • Health: Increased from 1450/2050/2900 to 1600/2100/2900.

Polar Bear

  • Energy Cost: Increased from 90 to 100.

  • Omega Damage: Increased from 200/300/400 to 250/350/500.

  • Heal from Omega: Increased from 8/14/20% to 10/15/20%.

  • Attack Damage: Increased from 105/155/220 to 115/165/230.

Pistol shrimp

  • Omega Power Damage: Adjusted from 945/1575/2415 to 1000/1500/2300.

  • Cast Duration: Reduced from 4.2 seconds to 4 seconds.

Penguin

  • Attack Damage: Increased from 105/150/225 to 125/175/250.

Star-nosed Mole

  • Attack Damage: Increased from 105/130/185 to 115/140/195.

Red Panda

  • Attack Damage: Reduced from 90/120/155 to 85/115/150.

Shoebill

  • Health: Reduced from 1525/2150/2650 to 1400/2000/2500.

Scorpion

  • Attack Damage: Reduced from 95/145/225 to 95/145/220.

AntEater

  • Dodge Chance on Omega: Standardized to 10% across all tiers (from 10/15/20%).

Air Units

  • Innate Dodge Chance: Reduced from 7% to 5%.

  • Tempest Units: Innate Dodge Chance reduced from 15% to 10%.

Komodo Dragon

  • Blind Duration: Reduced from 1.5/2/2.5 to 1/1.5/2 seconds.

  • New Effect: Smoke cloud now damages nearby enemies, dealing 40/45/50 energy damage per second for 4 seconds.


Base Synergies

  • New thresholds: 2/3/5/7/9 (Previously 2/3/4/6). This adds verticality while preserving accessibility.

  • Secondary bonuses were removed; only base synergy units benefit from simplified effects.

Water

  • Energy Regen: Adjusted from 3/5/8/12 to 4/5/6/10/15.

Earth

  • Grit & Resolve: Adjusted from 15/25/40/64 to 15/20/25/50/100.

Fire

  • Extra Damage: Adjusted from 10/18/32/42% to 15/20/25/40/65%.

Nature

  • Max Health Removed.

  • Health Regeneration: Increased from 0.5/0.75/1.25/1.75% to 1/1.25/1.5/2.5/3.5%.

Air

  • Increased Energy Cost Removed.

  • Dodge: Increased from 10/15/20/35% to 20/25/30/45/70%.


Classes

  • Threshold-specific bonuses removed.

Bulwark

  • Resistances: Increased from 15/30/35/45 to 30/40/50/75/125.

Fighter

  • Attack Speed: Increased from 18/36/40/45% to 25/35/45/60/90%.

Rogue

  • Crit Chance & Amp: Increased from 8/14/18/22% to 14/17/20/28/40%.

  • Blink Delay: Reduced from 1.5 seconds back to 0.5 seconds.

Psion

  • Omega Power: Increased from 12/22/30/36 to 20/25/30/45/70.

Empath

  • New Effect: Empaths now shield themselves for 550/750/900/1300/2000.


Composites

Tsunami

  • Effectiveness: Increased from 40/50/65% to 50/60/85%.

Granite

  • Thorns: Increased from 15/20/25 to 15/40/90.

  • New Effect: Units become invulnerable at combat start for 4/6/9 seconds (replaces Grit & Resolve bonus).

Inferno

  • Max Health as Pure Damage: Increased from 1/2/3% to 2/4/6%.

Verdant

  • Max Health Heal: Increased from 25/40/55% to 35/50/100%.

  • Heal Amount: Increased from 15/25/35 to 20/30/75.

  • Healing Duration: Increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds.

Tempest

  • New Effect: Enemies’ Omega costs increase by 20/45/120%. Additionally, on dodge, Tempest units gain 4/6/10 Energy.

Mud

  • New Effect:

  • Mud units now steal 35/45/60% of enemies’ attack speed.

  • First-time health drops below 50% and, upon vanquishing, slows enemies' attack speed within a 25-hex radius for 5 seconds.

Spore

  • New Effect: On Omega, heals for 5/10/20% of health and burns 10/20/40% of the enemy team's energy cost.

Frost

  • Stacks: Increased from 1/1/2 to 1/2/4.

  • Stack Application Frequency: Adjusted from 3/3/3 seconds to 4/4/4 seconds.

  • Blind Area: Increased from 25 to 35 hexes.

  • Blind Duration: 3/5/8 seconds.

Wildfire

  • Percentage of Energy Cost as Damage: Increased from 175/250/325% to 200/300/500%.

  • Vamp Percentage: Increased from 20/30/35% to 20/30/50%.

Magma

  • AoE Damage: Increased from 25/45/70 to 80/135/200.

  • Grit & Resolve: Reduced from 15/20/25 to 10/15/20.

Bloom

  • Omega Power Gain: Increased from 7/10/15% to 10/15/30%.

  • Health Regeneration: Increased from 5/10/12 to 10/15/30.

  • Max Health Bonus: Increased from 70/100/150 to 100/150/300.

Dust

  • Duration: Increased from 2.5/3.5/4.5 seconds to 3.5/5/7 seconds.

  • Omega Power Reduction: Increased from 25/35/45% to 30/60/70%.

  • Blind Removed.

  • New Effect: Reduces attack damage by 30/60/70%.

Steam

  • Omega Power: Increased from 20/30/40% to 50/75/100%.

  • Energy Regen: Increased from 5/8/12 to 10/20/30.

Toxic

  • Poison Stacks: Increased from 1/1/2 to 1/2/3.

  • Stack Frequency: Adjusted from 4/4/4 seconds to 4/2/2 seconds.

  • Health Gained: Increased from 150/200/300 to 250/400/700.

Shock

  • Damage: Increased from 125/150/200 to 125/175/250.

  • Energy Resistance Reduction: Increased from 4/6/8 to 5/7/10.

Berserker

  • Attack Speed Gain per 3 Autoattacks: Reduced from 3/4/5% to 2/3/4%.

  • Extra Attack Damage: Increased from 35/70/100% to 125/200/300%.

Behemoth

  • Max Health Damage: Increased from 10/14/18% to 20/30/40%.

  • Stun Duration: Increased from 1/1.25/1.5 seconds to 2/3/4 seconds.

Slayer

  • Attack Speed Gain: Adjusted from 50/50/50% to 35/60/100%.

  • Extra Physical Attack Damage on Crit: Increased from 2/4/5 to 4/6/8.

Arcanite

  • Energy Cost to Attack Speed Conversion: Increased from 55/65/85% to 45/90/140%.

  • Omega Power to Energy Damage Conversion: Increased from 55/65/80% to 45/90/140%.

Templar

  • Resistance Steal per 3 Autoattacks: Increased from 3/4/5 to 3/4/8.

  • Extra Attack Damage: Increased from 30/60/120% to 50/100/250%.

Colossus

  • Bonus Health: Increased from 20/25/30% to 25/45/90%.

  • Bonus Resistances: Increased from 30/40/50% to 35/55/100%.

  • First Crit Extra Damage: Adjusted from 100/100/100% to 50/150/300%.

  • Removed Bonus Crit Amplification on Takedown.

  • New Effect: Executes targets at 10/15/20% Health.

Phantom

  • New Effect: Omega can crit.

  • AoE Damage on Blink: Adjusted from 100/150/200 to 50/250/400.

  • Critical Chance: Adjusted from 5/10/15 to 5/15/20%.

  • Omega Gain on Crit: Adjusted from 7/9/10% to 5/10/20%.

Revenant

  • Attack Speed Reduction Duration: Standardized to 5 seconds across all thresholds.

  • Shield on Crit: Increased from 75/125/175 to 50/250/400.

Invoker

  • Bonus Effectiveness: Increased from 10/13/16% to 20/25/40%.

Enchanter

  • Shield & Pure Damage: Adjusted from 85/135/180 to 100/200/300.

Mystic

  • New Effect: The highest Health and highest Attack Damage Illuvial in your team receive a stat buff of 15/50/100%.

  • Max Stacks: Increased from 9 to 10.

  • Attack Speed Reduction per Stack: Increased from 3% to 5%.

Poison

  • Max Stacks: Increased from 5 to 10.

  • Pure Damage Max Health: Increased from 0.1% per second to 0.2% per second.


Hyper

Fighter

  • Fighters gain Resistance Piercing, up to 40%. Reaching Full Hyper doubles this effect.

Bulwark

  • Bulwarks gain scaling Damage Reduction of up to 15%. Reaching Full Hyper doubles this effect.

Rogue

  • Rogues gain scaling Critical Amplification, up to 50%. Reaching Full Hyper doubles this effect.

Psion

  • Psions gain Energy Scaling Damage and reduce enemy Energy Resistance when dealing with Omega Damage.

Empath

  • Empaths amplify nearby allies' attack damage and grant shields when allies attack.

Weapons

Issue Identified: The Blade weapon line wasn’t benefiting from its composites. This weapon line lacks an omega, but its composites (Spore and Phantom) were omega-dependent.

Solution: We’ve implemented a triple synergy switch across the following weapon lines to address this issue.

Pterodactyl VFX

  • On Omega, the Pterodactyl line displays a smaller area than it actually covers, resulting in a hitbox that is larger than what’s shown in the UI.
