Arena 0.2.3 Patch Notes

Game Mechanic Changes

Energy Gain

Currently, it is too easy to tank with shields because energy gain still occurs when units take damage. We are experimenting with a way to fix this without needing to move to drastic changes.

  • Updated Energy Gain Formula: Combat Units no longer gain energy when taking damage if a shield absorbs it. All other forms of energy gain (attacks, regeneration, Abilities) remain active while the shield is in place. The energy gain is proportional to the damage overflow if the shield breaks from damage.

Illuvial Changes

This relatively small patch aims to increase the amount of damage on single target damage dealers through Omega and Synergy tuning, focusing on the underperforming lines: Sea Scorpion, Thylacine, and Shoebill.

Sea Scorpion Line

Stage 1 — Rypter
  • Omega Damage: (8% Max Health + 100) * Omega Power → (8% Max Health + 140) * Omega Power

Stage 2 — Rypterus
  • Omega Damage: (8% Max Health + 130) * Omega Power → (8% Max Health + 170) * Omega Power

Stage 3 — Ryplance
  • Omega Damage: (8% Max Health + 160) * Omega Power → (8% Max Health + 200) * Omega Power

Thylacine Line

Stage 1 — Dash
  • Omega Damage: (Attack Damage + 60) * Omega Power → (Attack Damage + 90) * Omega Power

Stage 2 — Rake
  • Omega Damage: (Attack Damage + 100) * Omega Power → (Attack Damage + 130) * Omega Power

Stage 3 — Umbre
  • Omega Damage: (Attack Damage + 150) * Omega Power → (Attack Damage + 170) * Omega Power

Synergy Changes

Steam

Energy Regeneration per Water Synergy Stack while engulfed in Steam:

  • 2 per Water Stack → 3 per Water Stack

Wildfire

Damage Over Time per Fire Synergy Stack:

  • 75 damage over duration per Fire Stack → 125 damage over duration per Fire Stack

Slayer

Attack Speed Buff duration:

  • 5 seconds → 8 seconds

Templar

Damage increase per Fighter Stack:

  • 15% → 25%

Overall, these changes aim to balance gameplay and improve the player experience. We hope these updates will make for an even more enjoyable and competitive experience in Illuvium: Arena.

Bugfixes & Optimisations

  • Fixed an issue where weapon names and suit descriptions were incorrect.

  • Adjusted the Stage and Synergy icons' layout to prevent them from being out of bounds for weapons with long names.

  • Improved the positioning of Illuvial names to avoid overlap with Stage icons.

  • Resized Stage icons to be smaller and added a highlight effect to make them more visible.

  • Fixed a bug where placeholder text was displayed in the Game Over Screen instead of the player's name.

  • Illuvials and Augments are now properly displayed in the deck by default when entering Survival Arena.

  • Augment Cards are no longer shown after a checkpoint reset if the filter was not enabled previously.

  • Fixed animation memory leaks that were causing performance issues.

  • Templar Innate VFX now triggers correctly for the Empowered Attack.

  • Pterodactyl Omega animation no longer cuts out while Airborne.

  • The synergy panel no longer flickers when the player stops hovering over their deck.

  • Fire Fliish beam now deploys and finishes correctly without any flickering.

  • Purest damage now correctly overrides the Indomitable positive state.

  • Fixed positive/negative states text to appear correctly in all cases.
